Free Women's Self Defense & Empowerment Workshop

Join Paragon Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and RISE for an educational, empowerment self-defense workshop on Saturday, April 13th, from 1:30-3:30 pm at the Paragon location in Arroyo Grande!

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)! The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence & to educate communities on how to prevent it by promoting safe behaviors, thoughtful policies, & healthy relationships. Learn more at http://www.nsvrc.org/saam/sexual-assault-awareness-month.

This event is open to all women 12 and over! Please RSVP to paragonslo@sbcglobal.net or 805-305-7512 so we can ensure we have enough instructors on hand. (We are also holding a free co-ed adult intro to BJJ class at 11am this day, which is also a great form of self defense)

For individuals not comfortable physically interacting with community members they don't know, we strongly recommended bringing a partner you feel comfortable with!

Education topics to be covered:
Healthy relationships
Awareness building of violence in our community
Ways to feel empowered to prevent and intervene

Self-Defense portion will cover:
Wrist Releases
Bear hug defense
Striking defense
Basic groundwork

The event is free, but we will be accepting donations for RISE!
(If you would prefer to donate items or gift cards please contact Rob Diaz at rdiaz@RISEslo.org for RISE needs.)
